Deborah was cheerful and had a pleasant manner. The house was well taken care of. She didn't want the housekeeper coming and so I had to pay for services not rendered. She kept in touch by whatsapp. I didn't appreciate having my kitchen cupboards and counters rearranged. My dogs were well cared for and she sent pictures of them.

They made everything simple and stress-free, even picking me up from the bus depot when I arrived and arranging a lift back on my last day. Their home is a beautiful, peaceful oasis in a quiet, safe and friendly neighbourhood close to the town centre. I felt relaxed and at home right away. The real highlight, though, was their three wonderful cats - Max, Cooper and Sammi - each with their own unique personality. Max went from being shy and hiding to becoming my regular sofa buddy. Cooper, with his calm and regal presence, often joined in too; he and Max seemed to decide among themselves whose turn it was! Sammi’s excitement at dinnertime was pure entertainment. She loved her post-dinner brushing and, while not a cuddler, enjoyed hanging out nearby. All three also really enjoyed playing with "mouse on a string" and other dangling toys every evening. The owners were trusting, appreciative and always kind. The house had everything I needed, the garden was gorgeous, and caring for their cats was an absolute pleasure. If you’re looking for a housesit with genuine, thoughtful people and some very special feline companions, I couldn’t recommend them more highly. I’d love the chance to return one day. Shawn is a loving pet-mama, conscientious plant-carer, and fastidious communicator. She left our home, and our two cats and dog, in better shape than when she arrived. She is very good at sending regular updates, with photos and videos, on the home and our pets. Almost too good, since it's hard to keep up with her flurry of missives!

We were provided a vehicle which gave us access to some of most amazing beaches and road trips to some nearby towns. Also, kayaks, bicycles and SUP’s were available for our use as well. Aby and Zora were delightful and looked forward to their beach walks and curling up with us in the evenings for some quiet time. Communication with Terry and Monica was easy via WhatsApp when any questions arose throughout our time. LaPaz is a beautiful city with a gorgeous malecon and a great restaurant and coffee shoppe scene. All in all we could not have asked for a more enjoyable assignment. Pets: Barry (dog): A senior dog—smart, sweet, intuitive, and very easy to walk. She knows her way around town and is well-loved; many locals and expats recognized her during our walks. With so many restaurants and street vendors within walking distance (easily 50+), most of which welcome dogs, Barry happily joined me on almost all of my outings. Sparky (cat): Extremely affectionate, sweet, and easy to care for. Always ready for love and attention. CP (cat): A little more independent but still nearby much of the time. CP often came in for a quick brush or pet and especially liked keeping me company in the TV room. Overall Experience: Their furry family members were an absolute joy to care for, and the home was a comfortable, inspiring base for exploring Guanajuato. The hardest part about this sit was having to leave such a tranquil oasis of peace, with the most breathtaking views in all of Ajijic! I spent hours out on the huge terrace, listening to the chorus of birds and gazing out over the lake. Their home is (really) large, comfortable and very well appointed. It was especially a pleasure to be able to drink the (filtered) tap water! While I had some reservation due to the lack of A/C, there were very few days or nights in May that were uncomfortably hot, and none in July. The location is also excellent, in a gated community with 24/7 security, gorgeous gardens and a huge communal pool, all in the heart of Ajijic, but far enough above it that the sounds of the city were almost never an issue. If you're comfortable navigating cobblestone streets and steep hills on foot, you can be in the town centre in about 15-20 minutes, or in the blink of an eye by car. Nature lovers will be happy to know that the Tepalo hiking trails are right next door. We enjoyed our sit at Louisa’s home. We appreciated coming the day prior to the sit to orient ourselves to the house and cats. Her 2 cats were very easy to care for. Very shy, but they did warm to us after awhile. We had daily contact with Louisa during her absence. The garden and pool were an oasis to relax in. Because they were low maintenance, at Louisa’s urging we were able to explore Cuernavaca and the pueblos mágico near by.

I loved taking care of Dolly. She is a total sweetheart, very chill, and so enjoys her routine and meeting with her bestie, Bea.
