Millie house sat and cared for our beloved cat Katie during Jan/Feb 2023. This was our first experience with a non family member caretaker while we traveled. We had a great time with Marc and Paulette's two dogs, Brindle and Fiona. They took us on long walks every morning, then we got to enjoy relaxing in their owner's beautiful home. The rooftop garden is a wonderful place for refreshments in the afternoon and the guestroom bed was one I wanted to take home with me! Marc and Paulette are a warm and welcoming couple who we are happy to now call our friends.

There isn't enough room here to write all the nice things I have to say about Tom, Donna, and their lovely chihuahua Baby who is so sweet and affectionate. First of all, the communication was excellent; we were given details about the house (feeding schedules, plant watering, etc.) before our arrival so we had an idea of what was required. Their house is amazingly beautiful and very well set-up, not to mention very secure and safe. Donna had prepared and frozen a bunch of the food for the dogs so everything was covered for the time we were there. We kept in good contact while they were on vacation, but everything went smooth as silk. On their return, we had supper ready for them and we enjoyed an evening with our new friends who are very kind, funny, and clearly so in love. I would recommend house-sitting for them to anyone (although you must be prepared for a journey up a hill, a car is a plus) as their home is tranquil and beautiful, and it was such a pleasure to care for Baby and the street dogs that are faithfully there to eat twice a day. I hope we get to return one day to beautiful Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos. Thanks Tom and Donna!

Nancy and Lorne were the perfect House Sitters! They were clear communicators from the first interaction and prompt in all responses. Our dogs loved them, our plants never looked better and they left a large box of kindling for the fireplace! They (above and beyond!) cleaned the house when the housekeeper unexpectedly did not arrive on the last day. Paula + Reed were very welcoming, warm, and helpful. They gave us a tour of the city centre, which has a beautiful, large newer Plaza and an older, more traditional Plaza a block away. I particularly appreciated the beautiful natural fibre textiles everywhere in the home, and the almost complete absence of plastic! Also loved the gorgeous carved wooden furniture and all the numerous beautiful touches throughout. The light and sun filled upper storey was amazing. There was a massive open-air rooftop patio as well, with great views and lovely potted plants. A small courtyard off the kitchen was filled with light, warmth, and potted herbs. Another courtyard, off the library, contained the washing machine, drying lines, and more plants. Everything was sparkling clean, the gas stove was easy to use, the shower was hot, and the bed was very comfortable. The smart TV had Netflix, etc. and the wifi was good. There is so much to see and do in the lively colonial city of Pátzcuaro. Great restaurants, great street food, excellent food stores, vibrant local culture, and regular meetups with local expats for socializing and information-sharing. The Monarch Sanctuary is only a day trip away. A feature of the private, hilltop location of the home is the steep cobbled road down to the main road. We opted to use the inexpensive, readily-available taxis to come and go, which suited us just fine!

We had a great time house-sitting for David and caring for his two dogs, elder Wilson and young, gentle pup Dugui. He has an incredible historic home in a very central area of Puebla, making it very easy to walk to all the attractions. We fed and administered medicine twice a day, in the morning and evening, which made it easy for us to go out in between and enjoy some travel apart from our responsibilities. Communication was great with David during our stay, even though we didn't get to meet him until after he returned and relieved us of our duties (his partner was there to greet us and show us the house and animal routine). It's a great opportunity to experience the wonderful city of Puebla and we hope we get to return someday to do it again.

I was fortunate to be invited to sit for Terry. His 4 dogs were so much fun , and of course each has their own personality.. Terry had written instructions that helped make for an easy transition. He has a beautiful and comfortable home in a very close knit community. Definitely made some friends from my stay there.

I simply can't say enough nice things about Taylor and Mihai. They were amazing! One of my dogs is 15 1/2, with a lot of medical issues - that means a special diet and feeding regimen, medicines, supplements, etc. But they handled it all with aplomb, while also giving his little sister lots of TLC. They were in constant communication before and during my vacation, and they sent updates and photos while I was away. They also took very good care of our garden. Elizabeth’s place & fur babies were a pretty easy sit. The animals (small/older dog & 2 kitties) were hilarious, you could set a clock by what they thought their feeding schedule should be ? Even with the meds & meals, Elizabeth was very prepared & clear with instructions. The property was quite lovely. The garden was easy to water. House upkeep was a breeze, as Elizabeth had a pool guy & housekeeper. It was a wonderful time in a beautiful area. The Wi-Fi was good for Dave’s daily zoom calls... Continue Reading
