Eric and Noemi (Mimi) were our most recent housesitters. They drove up to Ajijic from Manzanillo and spent a week in our home to care for our Cocker, Dino. As much as they enjoyed our home, they fell in love with Dino and he them. It was quite a love fest. We would happily have them housesit for us again, as they were personable, responsible and caring of our home and pet.

We spent a lot of time on the patio with the dogs and swam almost every day in the heated pool. We also took the opportunity to explore the Lake Chapala area beyond Ajijic. Collette was an excellent hostess and even arranged a garden party for our first night so we could meet some of her neighbors and friends. This was my first trip to San Miguel de Allende (SMA) and I had the opportunity to explore much of the city during the day when the cats were sleeping. The house is located in a gated community and local bus service to downtown was just a block from the house. Since taxi fare to anywhere in town was only 50 pesos, I did my major grocery shopping at one of the big-box stores on the edge of the city and then filled in from one of the local markets less than a half block from the house. Due to the urgency of her travel, Hilary didn't have a lot of time to "brief" me but her house was well-equipped and easy to manage, so I had no issues. And, it was a great location. In the Lomos of Ajijic, the house is high on the hills, with a great view of the lake. At the same time, it's 5 minutes to the center of Ajijic. She is beyond welcoming; had flowers in my room, cooked meals and introduced me to so many people in the community that I left both times feeling like I was leaving many friends. I travel by myself and 4 dogs weren't too much for me to handle because she has them trained so well. On walks, one goes off-leash, another on a single leash and the 2 smallest on a double leash; easy, peasy! Their routine is very easy and they'll reward you with lots of affection. Many evenings, I was in the TV room surrounded by them cuddling and sleeping while I watched movies. AND, she has an extensive movie collection if you enjoy movies. I've sat at many homes now in the area and you won't find a better view of Lake Chapala, especially for sunsets! And, you'll have a great pool to enjoy also. You really won't want for anything and I have no hesitation recommending you sit for Collette and her crew. I was lucky enough to sit for Marc & Ella and their sweet Nikki in San Jose del Cabo. They were so welcoming; starting with Ella picking me up at the airport. We talked non-stop for almost 2 days before they left for their trip. Marc is a wonderful cook. We shared several meals together and I was left with many home-made meals in the refrigerator. She's getting older but still likes her walks although they aren't long; I just fell in love with her! While they were gone, I stayed in their main house so that their dogs would maintain their routines. Their home is beautiful and includes a pool and hot tub. Their dogs are so very sweet and easy. Their walks were off-leash and just a few blocks in different directions three times per day. I can highly recommend sitting for Linda & Jim if you get the opportunity.
