Mexico can be very loud, but this home is located more on the edge of town where night time is quiet and you awaken in the morning to bird song rather than traffic. Having said that it is not at all isolated, being walking distance to a mall, restaurants and the tianguis market held on Tuesdays and Sundays. El Centro is a 20 minute walk downhill and a 70 peso taxi ride back. For people who like nature, the botanical gardens are very close. The dogs are very easy care since they have a self-feeder that the gardener keeps filled and basically only require love and affection. Oh, and Chloe needs a couple of pills that she takes eagerly when wrapped in cream cheese! Jeannie and John are very experienced both as home owners dealing with sitters and as sitters themselves. Everything was explained and written down before they left and they were very responsive to emailed questions. Jeannie shared her friends with us and they made us feel welcomed in the community. I highly recommend this house sit to sitters who want to explore San Miguel de Allende or who are looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay in a beautiful park-like setting. It might not suit some sitters who work on-line, as the internet is quite slow. Especially upload speeds. Doreen & John just sat for us for 2 weeks in January, and were absolutely perfect. They took care of our old cocker spaniel much better than we do, and she misses them greatly. Doreen & John communicated with us at least every other day, with a report of how things were going, and we got the idea that if we just stayed gone long enough, they would get our house in really good shape. They will sleep in the same bed as you (a huge one) and you will never feel so loved when you wake up. The villa is absolutely gorgeous with amazing views of the town. I applied for this sit after looking at photos of Ava, Dolce, Hillary & Lucy. Their little faces melted my heart! They wake up at first light & like barking at the birds who goad them on from the balcony railing. They frequently made me laugh though & all have such different personalities. The location is quite remote so having a car would be good if you want to explore. The landscape is quite unique with the ocean right in front of you & the mountains right behind you.
