If you’re a house sitter looking for an authentic, culturally immersive experience, Becky’s home in Playa Del Carmen is the perfect spot. We had the pleasure of caring for her three wonderful dogs—Boxa, Bella, and Gus—during our stay from March 6 to April 6, 2025, and can confidently say this is a great place for anyone seeking a genuine Mexican experience.
The house is located in the quaint Mision del Carmen neighborhood, which offers an intimate feel of local life, with friendly lower and mid-income Spanish speaking Mexican families.
Within just a couple of blocks, you’ll find a variety of authentic Mexican restaurants and convenient stores, making it easy to get a taste of local culture and cuisine. For those who need to shop, Walmart is about a 20 to 25-minute walk away, or you can hop in a taxi for a short ride.
While the city center and beach are about an hour’s walk, they are easily accessible by a 50 Peso taxi ride, giving you the best of both worlds—quiet, residential living with quick access to the more tourist-heavy areas when desired.
Becky herself was a pleasure to communicate with—always friendly and easygoing. She stayed in touch via WhatsApp throughout our stay, making sure everything was going smoothly.
