My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our one month housesit for David and Lisa! It was helpful to meet beforehand to interact with Buster and spend time getting to know them. Since we were already in San Miguel and heading to Guanajuato prior to the start of our sit, they allowed us to store some items at their house for a week. This was a very kind gesture, along with helping us receive a couple of packages before the sit began. We arrived the evening before their trip and learned more about Buster’s routines. A helpful welcome guide was provided and instructions about Buster’s recent stomach issues. Lisa and David’s home is lovely with much of Lisa’s artwork displayed. It is very clean and has a wonderful terrace on the 2nd level with a view of the city. We had a nice bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the first floor. Lisa was helpful and responsive to texts before and during our sit.
Buster is easy to love and it was difficult to leave him when our sit came to an end. He enjoys playing ball more than any other dog we have cared for and accepted us both quickly. Buster especially enjoyed going to the “park” area within the gated neighborhood to play and do his business. We took him 3 times a day for exercise because it was fun for all of us to get outside and we enjoyed seeing him so happy. It also provided the opportunity for us to meet neighbors and be invited to a birthday gathering for the property manager, Javier, who is absolute joy to be around. Javier helped with various things such as retrieving a dog toy and assisting us with buying drinking water…even driving us to the store! Javier also ordered and repaired a dryer knob when it broke (and Lisa kindly reimbursed us). Javier is a wonderful part of the Miraflores community and speaks English. At the beginning of our sit, Buster was experiencing stomach issues and vomitted bile a couple of times…and then acted fine afterward. Fortunately, the vet is just across the street and Lisa previously discussed this possibility and left us pesos to pay the vet if needed. Buster was very cooperative about going to the vet and taking pills to calm his tummy. It seemed the problem was mainly anxiety and he was fine after that. You wouldn’t believe he is a senior dog given how active he is with play and interest in his toys. It was an absolute pleasure caring for Buster all while enjoying the beautiful city of San Miguel.
