Our stay in Molly and Jason’s wonderful home was our first through HouseSitMexico and it couldn’t have been better! From our first contact to our last day we thoroughly enjoyed it. The communication was super friendly and clear which made it very easy for us: We were given a guide with all the important questions about the house and the pets. If we had any questions, we could always get in touch via WhatsApp.
And then there is the house: What! A! View! It is situated just above San Miguel de Allende with the most spectacular view over the town. We spent countless hours in the gorgeous sunroon. Often we thought: Why go to a mirador or a fancy restaurant when we have this view from home? Unforgettable!
The location is great: it is a 20 minute downhill walk into town (don’t worry, you have little abarrotes in 2 minutes distance), which we used as our little daily walk, then enjoyed the centre. When we were too lazy to walk back we just took an Uber for about 70 MXN. It’s quiet too: We could see the fireworks in the city, but hardly hear them.
But let’s get to the heart of it – or what got to our hearts: The pets. Ninja is a beautiful cat, sometimes a bit shy, but very sweet. He’s been super easy to look after, letting you know when he’s hungry or wants to be petted. And then there is MAX, the dog. He has stolen our hearts from the first moment! He is such a sweet, well-trained and loyal soul. Wherever we went in the house, he would join us, sit down and just relax with us. Even for hours at a time when Cristina was giving her online Spanish lessons in the study, he just stayed with her and kept her company all day. We weren’t used to a dog sleeping in the bedroom before, and Molly said it would be no problem for him to sleep outside. But we just couldn’t let go of him, so he spent every night in the same room, looking at us like “oh, they’re ready to go to sleep”, curling up on his blanket and waking up with us when we did. We are really going to miss our new friend! (And someone even shared some goodbye tears saying bye to him … ;-))
Overall, we can only recommend to do this housesit: and incredible house, perfect hosts and lovely pets!
