We are in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, a beautiful little beach & fishing village 20 minutes south of Cancun and 30 Minutes north of Play Del Carmen.  We are in a local neighborhood but in a secure, gated neighborhood within that local area.  We rent a beautiful 2-story townhome with two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.  There are 2 A/C units on the ground level and 1 in each bedroom upstairs and balconies on two of the bedrooms.

**** special note on length of stay ** we have a trip in august, Aug 25  to sept 16.  You could stay in the area for 2 weeks and do our house sit for that time period as well.  This could extend your stay to be close to 2 months.  There are low cost options here to stay on the off season!

You will need to be okay with going up & down stairs in the house with this sit (Most everyday living activities are on the ground floor, including the entrance; we mostly just go upstairs to go to bed at night or when we need things).  We have a small enclosed backyard with a covered tiled patio and plenty of trees for shade.

We have Great internet: dedicated 100MB speeds and a large TV with Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, CBS All Access. Hulu, and a VPN, etc..  There is a large kitchen with a large granite bar for eating or a workspace.  There is a full kitchen where we cook regularly, a Nescafe machine, a water cooler with chilled water and hot water, and a washer downstairs

We have 1 cruiser bike available; there are lots of bike riders all over this community (15 minutes or less to ride bike to the beach).   We have two Stand Up Paddle boards for your use as well.  We can also leave access to our car (insured small SUV) if you feel comfortable driving, and there are local taxi's everywhere as well as "collectivos" (vans that run like bus routes) and larger buses.   Our gated neighborhood has very friendly staff and neighbors and many nicely paved streets for walking, running, or biking as well having a small community pool that is very nice.  Stores and places to eat are in walking distance (10 minutes) and there are a myriad of home delivery options for food and other items as well (There is a local fruit and veg stand and a mini-mart just down the road).  Everything is close in this town and it is a great combination of a beach-centered area with more tourists and a "Colonia" side with lots of Mexican Nationals, expats, etc. and authentic food, groceries, supplies, etc.  There is very little maintenance or housework to be done; we have a great cleaner come once every 2 weeks and besides keeping an eye on the house and cleaning some leaves in the backyard (forever fall here with the trees).  We can continue cleaners schedule while you are here if you would like

Pets:  We have a 8 year old pug named Gizmo.    Gizmo is very easy  but mostly likes to snuggle, be near you and play.    He likes to get in his 3-4 potty walks a day.  We tend to keep a close eye on him as he is still like a puppy and gets into everything and obsessed with food as most pugs are.   He is either with us, attached to something w/ his leash and harness around where we are, or in his kennel.    He still likes to put everything in his mouth and investigate everything, not always a good thing in the tropics, but he is getting better :).  He is food possessive, and had a liver problem when he was a puppy, so we limit his treats and keep him away from any people food or scraps.

Gizmo is kennel trained and sleeps in his kennel at night and when we leave.  He is very good about going in the kennel and being happy there.  Gizmo is used to having pet sitters and seeing new people.   You can leave him to go to the beach and take a day trip as he is fine for 9-10 hours.

Our travel, We leave July 26 but would like the pet sitters to arrive a day or 2 early and leave a day after we leave to get the details of the house and Gizmo.  Also an additional buffer day when we get back to account for any flight problems.

** special note - we have a trip from Aug 25 - Sept 16 that if it worked out, you could stay in the area for 2 weeks and come back to our place.  This would make you visit a lot longer but this might be beneficial to you as well to make the stay close to 2 months!  We have a prior pet sitter that we may be able to use for this but she has not finalized  yet, so we thought we would mention this.

** We prefer someone who is currently in Mexico but are open to the right pet sitter in the US or other country if they are familiar with mexico.

There is a "Ruta de Cenotes" on our South end of town with 6+ different cenotes for swimming in the cool freshwater open caverns.  Puerto Morelos also has its own national marine park on the offshore reef, where you can take boats out to snorkel and dive in the amazing crystal clear turquoise waters.   There are many great food choices here with many options for food delivery

Responsibilities

1. Entertain Gizmo, feed him twice a day, make sure he has water, take him out to potty (about 3-4 times a day), 3-4 small walks, entertain him (which is not hard), make sure is okay and staying healthy; Keep to our training rules; the usual dog duties in that area!  Most likely take him to the vet to have his nails cut once while we are gone.   We have rules for gizmo and want our pet sitters to stick with them as his training can get forgotten quick when we don't stick with it! :).

2. Keep an eye on the house, report any maintenance or other problems to us immediately.  As explained, there are very little maintenance needs.

3.   Minor yard work keeping the back yard clean of leaves and the stuff that falls as well as keeping the patio cleaned.

4.  Send us lots of Gizmo update pictures!
