Relaxing Stay in Our Lovely Home w/ Jasper & Cali! Excellent Reviews!

Hello! We're returning to the USA for a medical procedure, and seeking a dependable cat-and-house-sitter while we're away.
We have two sweet kitties! Jasper is a super-friendly, mellow, and happy cat. He's 12 years old, and he LOVES people. He might follow you around the house, rest in your lap when you're reading or watching TV, and sleep with you at night (if you're OK with that). Sitters who watch Jasper tell us he's a special kitty (and that's our biased opinion, too!). CaliCat is our newer addition. She's six-years-old, fur soft as silk, very curious, and somewhat skittish. We adopted her from a local shelter where she had resided almost all of her life, so she's still learning to trust people. She loves to play!
We live in a beautiful house in San Miguel de Allende ("SMA"), up a hill at the edge of Centro, just a ten-minute walk from the Parroquia (that's the downhill direction, and closer to 20-minutes coming back uphill). An Uber or taxi ride costs about $5-$6 U.S. to get to most places in the city. We're in a gated condo community with 24/7 security. There's a shared covered lap pool, too, although it's partially heated and may be chilly that time of year.
SMA is truly a pueblo mágico, and repeatedly named on many "Best Small City in the World" lists. It's a historic colonial city, with stunning architecture, a great climate, gentle and caring people, and exceptional dining options. We're learning Spanish, and the tourism-centered nature of the city has made living here without fluency a soft landing spot.
The entire main floor is yours to enjoy, and includes your private guest bedroom with ensuite bath/shower, a fantastic kitchen, and a comfortable living room with a spectacular terrace. The guest bedroom has a king bed (consisting of two twin beds side-by-side), a sitting area, and a TV. You will have easy access to our living room terrace that overlooks the city, as well as a rooftop with an amazing Parroquia view. Your bedroom and the living room have mini-splits for your comfort. There's also great WiFi, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer in the house.
The stunning kitchen has recently been renovated. When we moved into the house last year, the entire house was painted, and has mostly new furniture, rugs, blinds, etc. We are a smoke-free home, and smoking is not allowed on our property.
A housekeeper cleans twice weekly, and a gardener waters and takes care of our plants, so your responsibilities are essentially limited to cat-care and house-awareness! (and enjoying yourself). We will pre-pay for the housekeeper and gardener during your stay.
The cats are both adopted; Jasper was declawed before we met him. They are strictly indoor cats, although they have three outdoor areas (two terraces and a patio) that have netting all around them, where they often hangout.
Besides feeding the cats (three small meals plus evening treats daily), we ask you to daily: empty the litter box, brush them (especially Jasper, who thrives on being brushed), let Jasper drink water from the upstairs sink, hang with both of them, play with them (especially Cali), and for you to please sleep at the house. Jasper often gets skin irritations, and we may ask you to apply a medication a couple of times a day.
It's important to us to find someone highly responsible and communicative, not just for our wonderful kitties, but also to keep the house and its possessions secure and in excellent condition. We have a slight preference for a couple, rather than a solo traveler. If you plan to invite any guests for day visits, we'd like to be consulted beforehand, please.
We're planning to leave Wednesday afternoon, August 19, and return late on Wednesday, September 2. If possible, given that we'll have company here until the morning of August 19, your perfect arrival day/time would be late morning on August 19, and you'd stay through at least the morning of September 3. We have some flexibility in our return date, up to several days later, which we can explore/negotiate together. The start date is somewhat inflexible, except that we have the option of departing early on August 20, to accommodate a arrival later on August 19.
We've had great success meeting lovely cat-and-housesitters on this site. Our typical process is to invite a few responders for a video chat to begin to get to know each other, and take it from there.

Responsibilities
- Feed the cats several times daily (morning and evening dry food; midday wet food; evening treats).
- Keep them inside and safe (except for the netted terraces and patio, where they have free access)
- Empty the litter box daily
- Brush them daily (especially Jasper)
- Let Jasper drink running water from the sink daily
- Hang and play with them daily (Cali loves to play! Jasper adores hanging out by your side)
- Apply skin medication to Jasper, as/if needed
- Sleep at the house
- Maintain the house and let us know of any problems that come up. We have a house manager who can assist in an urgent situation.
