February! Six Days (Come 2 Days Early to Get Comfortable) Great Reviews!
San Luis Potosi, SLP, Mexico
Hi, we are Marc & Paulette. We have been living in Mexico for almost 6 yrs now. We will be traveling for 6 days locally within Mexico (Feb 5-10). The start date listed includes 2 days here to get familiar with the dogs and us and the house before we leave on the 5th. A face-time chat is needed for each of us to get to know each other.
Ideally, looking for a couple, to walk our 3 large size dogs (60 lbs each) 1 small rescue recently, a Chiweenie. . Would make it easier for 2. people Please do not bring your pet along on this house sit & no children & no smoker (s).
We live in a 2 story house. 3 bedrooms & 4.5 bathrooms. There are 34 steps to the rooftop balcony & 18 steps to the 2nd floor, so please keep that in mind if stairs are an issue. Lots of natural Lighting. We live in Villa Magna Community in San Luis Potosi. We are NOT a gated community. We do have a gate in front of our driveway & a secure screen door & an alarm system if you choose to use it; although the 3 dogs sleep in the drive way & they are our alarm system in themselves. Got the alarm system 1st & then took in street dogs later. Our community is located just outside Centro in the hills with over head street lights & wide sidewalks. We are about a 15-20 minute drive to Centro & Historical; or about a 20 minute bus ride that stops a block from our house & Uber & is another option. San Luis Potosi is in the mountains. 6,200 ft or 1,890 meter. The climate here averages between mid 70's-80's during the days. You will see dog walkers in our neighborhood & many folks just out & about jogging. It's a nice area with friendly folks. We are the only gringo's here, so keep that in mind. June, July & Aug can bring tropical showers like many areas in Mexico. Oct-Feb is a little colder at night, about 41F or 5 celsius. Days during these months can be cloudy/overcast, sunny & warm, rainy & can get thunder storms. May is the hottest month & can get to low 90's. We do not have heat or air split unit. We do have ceiling fans in all rooms of the house & 2 small electric heaters & 1 stand up portable fan. Remember your in the highlands of Mexico, the weather can be hot or cold, so pack accordingly.
Near our home & walking distance is a few hair salons, a coffee shop, a small lab & hardware store, 2 OXXO's, a pizza parlor, small butcher shop & a pet store. A walk up & down a small hill, a 10-15 min walk (depending how fast or slow you walk) & you will find Similares Pharmacy, Guadalajara Pharmacy, another salon & 2 tienda & another pizza parlor & some eating areas A 15-20 min walk & there are many outdoor food areas & a fruiteria. A mobile fruiteria comes in once or twice a week to the area by Guadalajara Pharmacy 10-15 min walk). It can be found parked at the corner. A medical clinic can be found at Similares; but the doctor is not always in; you can ask inside the pharmacy when the doctor will be in. A few more coffee shops & OXXO can be found as well in that walk. On Avenida Romantica about a 20 mins walk, another hardware store & a lab clinic, & another Guadalajara Pharmacy further down the road ....maybe 25 min walk. The walk to some of these areas are down hill & uphill, so put on your walking shoes. Our community is approx. 12 years old. We have several grocery stores to pick from nearby via transportation. 2 HEB's (about 10-15 mins away by car, bus or Uber. 1 HEB is across / near Morelos Park & a large IMSS hospital. The other is nearby too by car or Uber. The bus into Centro is at the corner - 3 houses down) and comes about every 1/2hr. or so On Sundays, the bus does not run until after 1pm as the Central area is closed off to vehicles from 9-1pm. It becomes a pedestrian only walking area. There are also other grocery stores, Soriano, La Comer Freska & more; by car or uber. San Luis Potosi has a Walmart, Home Depot, Costco, Sam's & 5 shopping malls & movie theaters (about a 15 mins drive). There are tons of restaurants & shops in Centro & Historical. We have the 2nd largest Park (Tangamanga) next to Chapultepec Park in Mexico City. Historical area has a large pedestrian walking area down many streets. It's an amazing place to discover with it's old churches & many shops & places to eat.
We have Star-link internet ~ very fast. The guest room has a king size Sealy posturepedic Mattress (very comfortable) & its own bathroom. The Master Bedroom has the same mattress with its own bathroom should you choose to use our room. The router is in the master room. The 3rd bedroom we use as an office. We have a full size gas stove, full size washer & dryer & frig. We also have a small frig in the area by the washer & dryer area & a Charcoal BBQ on the patio downstairs. There is a water delivery company we used for bottle water. Will will leave 12 full bottles. If you run out, you can call if more bottled water is needed or whatsapp Marc & he will notify the water company for you. The cost is 35 pesos each & are 20 liter bottle.
Our 3 dogs are street dogs we adopted from our community. They love their walks 3 times a day. IF, you decide to be away for a while 6-8hrs, just walk them in the morning & put them in the driveway. Keep them outside in the driveway whenever you leave. If they need to do anything, it can be easily cleaned up & hosed. Usually they will wait until their next walk. They get fed once a day. When you are home they can be inside or stay in the drive way or go with you to the roof top. The driveway is covered so no direct rain or sun.
Plant Lover !! I have LOTS of plants. Some in the driveway, some on the patio & master balcony & rooftop & some inside the house. I water on HOT days about every 3rd day outside. It takes about an hour, but I find it relaxing. If it's been raining, watering that often isn't needed.
There will be a list of contacts on the frig of friends & neighbors. And, of course, you will have our numbers too. Whatsapp is used throughout Mexico. A list of details instructions will be hung on the frig to review if needed. We do have our local vet in our community. She is about a mile walk. If you are interested in house sitting drop us a message. We can send you more pictures of our community so you can get a feel where you'd be house sitting.
