TRANSLATION:
Our home is situated on the southern shore of Lake Chapala—an area far more sparsely populated and pristine than the northern side, home to the towns of Ajijic and Chapala, where a large community of North American retirees resides. This southern zone is home to authentic Mexican villages; unlike on the other side of the lake, you won't encounter many foreigners here. The nearest village is Mismaloya, just 1 kilometer away, while 8 kilometers further lies Tizapán el Alto, where you will find all necessary amenities. There are also a couple of "Magic Towns" (*Pueblos Mágicos*) in our vicinity worth visiting, located no more than an hour away: Jiquilpan and Mazamitla.
The house sits on a multi-hectare property, enveloped by nature and offering a stunning view of the lake. It is a wonderful spot for birdwatching and enjoying beautiful sunset walks. It is an ideal retreat for those who cherish tranquility; the nearest neighbor is over 200 meters away, ensuring a high degree of privacy. The house was completed just one year ago—though a few exterior details remain to be finished—and was designed and built entirely by us using only local, natural materials such as earth, wood, and stone. The structure captures and stores rainwater, and our bathrooms feature composting dry toilets. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, and we provide Starlink internet access.
Our business, named "Igloo Kokolo," is located just a 5-minute walk away via a lovely trail. We host various events there, including yoga and meditation retreats, natural building workshops, and programs focused on environmental stewardship. During our absence, we will not be hosting groups; instead, individual rooms will be available for rent exclusively through Airbnb.
You are sure to fall in love with our pets! "Mosh" is an Australian Shepherd—the pack leader and protector—who absolutely loves playing fetch. "Zuka" is a rescue dog with a strong maternal instinct who keeps the whole pack happy. "Pajarito" and "Pajarita" are our newest additions—two kittens we found abandoned on the roadside; they are very young and full of curiosity about the world, though they don't require much attention. My flight departs on July 7th, but we need you to arrive a week in advance so we can get to know one another, help you settle in, and personally show you around the place.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a responsible and tidy person to look after our home. We need you to water the plants and attend to our pets; they are very independent and do not require much attention—just feeding them twice a day, taking them for walks by the lake, and tossing a ball for them every now and then as a sign of affection.
We can iron out all the details during a video call.
