Mar 29-Apr 8th Enjoy Spring Break w/ My Adorable, Friendly Chihuahua!
Guadalajara, Jal, Mexico
Hi!
Welcome to Santa Teresita, Guadalajara, Jalisco!
The area of Santa Teresita: where the home is located
When I arrived in Guadalajara and started my home finding, I immediately fell in love with this area called Santa Teresita, as it is like living in a Pueblo Magico/Magical Town in the middle of a larger city. There are no high rises, and most buildings are less than 3 stories high. Mostly residential, there are some commercial areas of Santa Tere which have shops, boutiques, markets, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, street food stalls, clothing stores, and much much more! They say that if you can't find it in Santa Tere, then it doesn't exist!
Transportation is good, lots of bike lanes, bike rental stations, buses, and is actually good flat walking for those who wish to walk to explore. The closest subway station is at Federalisimo, and that system can take you to farther afield areas of interest in Guadalajara - such as the Basilica de Zapopan (N) and SE to Tlaquepaque. Santa Tere is a very central location, and easy to get Didi / Uber ride shares. Every Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm there is open biking/roller blading / jogging etc. on some major roads that are closed to traffic during those hours.
Colonia America, also a very interesting and famous area of Guadalajara, is located a quick bike ride, walk from my place in Santa Teresita. I supply a bike for your use, and a lock and helmet. Biking is very good in and around Santa Teresita. This area has a wide range, too, of cafes, restaurants, markets, etc. and is convenient to get to.
A block away is the amazing Sunday fruit/veggie market that is worth getting your weekly groceries. This is just one of the many street markets (also known as Tianguis here in GDL), as it is basically a farmers market with fresh, delicious produce and prices that are better than the grocery stores. A great place to see the neighbors of who lives in the area. Very popular and crowded. It is from 8 am to about 2:30 pm in the afternoon every Sunday.
The Home: where what you will be living in
The apartment is relatively new, built and occupied within the past year, and is only 8 units. The design is breathtaking with a unique design, concept, layout, and the best part is the plethora of plants and feature walls with tasteful murals. My favorite is the hummingbird wall, as the hummingbird is an important symbol and bird species here in Guadalajara. The unit has one large bedroom with ensuite full bath (toilet, sink, standing shower), large closet, and door that exits to the patio space. The bed is a queen and includes sheets, comforter, pillows, etc. There is a tv, and you can bring your own Firestick or use what I have.
The main space is open concept, and includes a kitchen with electric stove top, microwave, full fridge, and fully stocked utensils, etc. There is no oven. There is a dining / eating table with 4 chairs, or you can choose to eat out on the patio as there is a table with 2 chairs out there, too. Other appliances include toaster, blender, electric water kettle. You can sometimes hear the distant, faint ringing of church bells, as there are several churches/cathedrals in the area (I mention this but it is not loud nor annoying, it is lovely).
There is a full washing machine, and as there is not really a dryer, I supply two folding rack for clothes to dry on the patio. As it is quite dry here, then the clothes dry quickly. There is a vacuum, mop, broom, dustpan and cleaning products. You will have access to my bike, so there is a bike lock, lights for night riding and a helmet. The backpack for Lucy Puppet is also available for taking her with you if you wish.
WIFI is available which is good for phone and computer/laptop:
Why choose this property for two weeks house / pet sitting?
Thank you for reading this far down, to understand what the responsibilities are of sitting this home located in the fabulously interesting and fun neighborhood of Santa Teresita.
The apartment is 1 bed / 1 bath and is one of 8 in a complex that was built within the year. It has a gorgeous and serene patio/garden, with a table and 2 chairs, two sun chairs, and a lovely array of plants / flowers. There is also a lovely hummingbird feeder that is very busy in the morning and early afternoons.

Responsibilities
Hi!Thank you for reading this far down, to understand what the responsibilities are of sitting this home located in the fabulously interesting and fun neighborhood of Santa Teresita.
- The plants will need to be watered (there is a hose with a good handheld nozzle) at least every 3 days, as it is the dry season in GDL.
- The hummingbird feeder will need to be replenished. I have a quick recipe of water and sugar for the feeder, easy to make, easy to replenish every 2/3 days or as needed.
- My best friend, Lucy Puppet, will require love, attention, and walks 1-2 times per day, and fed and watered. She is 10 years old, but is healthy and does not require any special medications. Her food is kibble (she is a grazer) and canned meat (chicken) twice per day. She is good with a walk around the block. I also have a backpack carrier for her which you can use. She is friendly with cats and people, but is not as keen on other dogs, especially larger ones. She knows to pee on the pee sheets (supplied), and can pee etc on the patio, which just needs to be picked up if she defecates and flushed in the toilet.
- Garbage needs to be taken out when full, and placed at the front entrance. Along with any empty wine/beer cans.
- There is a mop and a vacuum if needed.
- There is a broom with dustpan for sweeping the patio once per week of leaves and other debris. There is a special water drain, for rain water and such, which allows convenient cleaning of the patio. The drain can clog with leaves and so it needs to be cleaned out once per week (located in the corner where the water runs off and down to the main sewer).

Additional Information
Guadalajara is one of the largest cities in Mexico! Located in the central state of Jalisco, this wonderful, historically important, and center of the arts city has it all and always has something of interest going on - the city that, too, never sleeps! The climate is a huge draw, especially that it is mild and comfortable for 10 months of the year, with a hotter spell in April and May each year and a wet season in the late summer/early fall. The food and arts scenes here are top notch, not to mention the culture, history, and traditions - something for everyone, almost daily if not weekly.
