A Springtime Stay in Mazatlan's Centro Historico!
Mazatlan, Sin, Mexico
I prefer a single woman who can speak some Spanish and has experience living in Mexico so that they're comfortable with things that can happen that are out of our control, like water being turned off for a day by the city, loud fireworks nearby, the gas running out or who-knows-what-else. Also, if it works out better, you can arrive a day before I leave.
My three-bedroom apartment in an older historical house in the Centro Historico is spacious, light-filled and pretty, with two big bathrooms, lots of windows and natural light, tile floors, 12-foot ceilings, a balcony in front and a nice-sized private patio in back. There's a big eat-in kitchen with everything you could need for cooking or baking and a comfy living room. The apartment is on the second floor, with two sets of 10 easy stairs to get to the front door. Please note there is no elevator.
It's just a few easily walkable blocks from the "center of Centro Historico" - the Plaza Machado - and about five walkable blocks to Olas Altas beach and the ocean-front malecon (boardwalk). You are a stone's throw from all the shops, cafes, and restaurants in Centro Historico, as well as the Angela Peralta theater, the big central market, and the docks to go to Stone Island. Nearby beaches include Olas Atas and Los Pinos. You're close enough to enjoy everything but just far enough out of the fray to be able to sleep at night!
There are mini-split air conditioners in the bedrooms, office, and living room. (At this time of year it's still pretty cool so they may not be needed). The apartment has a washer but no dryer; I hang clothes on a line on the patio. There are two guest bedrooms, both with double (matrimonial) beds with organic cotton linens. One room is set up like an office and there is reliable 5G internet throughout the apartment. In the living room is a 55" Roku TV with Netflix and a few other channels.
Mazatlan has lots of public transportation options. There's a city bus stop directly across the street should you want to go north to the Golden Zone, Cerritos, the Marina, shopping malls, or whatever. As a tourist town, you'll find Uber and Didi here offering inexpensive rides, plus there are taxis and Mazatlan's signature transportation option, the pulmonia (open-air, golf-cart like vehicles.)
* The many indoor plants need to be watered twice a week, Wednesday and Sunday. Patio plants watered with the hose every other day or so, depending on the time of year.
* Basic household cleaning, as I don't have a maid. ie, just clean up after yourself ;-)
