July 12 thru Aug or Early Sept (TBD) in the Sayulita Countryside

Sayulita, Nay, Mexico

My 2 bedroom, 2 story house is on the outskirts of Sayulita, a very popular beach town. From my home it is a 20 minute walk to the Centro of Sayalita, so having your own transportation is recommended. I have one cat, who isn't a pampered, cuddly type- she just needs to be fed and mostly hangs outside- no litter box to clean.

Both bedrooms are on the second floor, accessed by an outside staircase. 1 bathroom upstairs and one down. Spacious, well-equipped kitchen, small living room, outside terraces. Set in a lush tropical garden.

It will be rainy season here, so the gardens will likely not need to be watered.  Garden chores for a house sitter would be using my weed-eater to cut a few small areas of grass, and picking up garden debris that may blow down in the tropical storms. It will be hot and humid here in July and August. I don't have AC, but I have good ceiling fans and stand fans that can be moved around. I have spent a lot of time here in the summer, and I don't find it unbearable, but I know some folks are not able to handle heat and humidity.

Other than those garden chores, and feeding the cat, there are only a few other small things that need to be done, which I can let you know if you are interested in this assignment. You may have to go up on my ladder to the roof to check how much water is left in the big tank, so being scared of heights would be a problem.  (The ladder is very secure and goes from the upstairs balcony to the roof. Water is gravity fed from there into the house.)

Sayulita has water issues this time of year (their wells run low) and I sometimes have had to order a water truck, as do many residents here. Once the rains start, I have collected buckets of water that pours out of my rain spout (a 5 gallon pail fills in about a minute), and use that for washing dishes, watering plants, etc., flushing the downstairs toilet, saving the water in the rooftop tank for showering and flushing the upstairs toilet. My past house sitters have not had an issue with the water.

My WiFi is generally very good. However, the electricity sometimes goes out in the tropical storms, so of course there won't be WiFi until the electricity comes back on. Cell signal is good at my house.

My departure date is set:  July 12.  I have a flight booked. I will purchase my return ticket when I am in Canada, so my exact return date isn't set, but it will be by the end of August or the first week of Sept. I would like a house sitter to arrive here several days to a week before I leave, so I can orient you to how everything works here, without it being rushed and possibly forgetting to mention things. Feel free to message me with any questions or clarifications or more info.

Responsibilities

Feed the cat. Cut small patches of grass with my weed-eater. This needs to be done every week or so, and takes about 20 minutes.) Pick up yard debris that blows down in tropical storms. Open my little sewing shop building once a week for a few hours and turn on the fan in there to air it out, so it doesn't get mildewy in there. Keep the house clean. There is no garbage collection in my area, so you have to take your garbage to the collection area on a regular basis. Let me know right away if there are any house issues in my absence, so I can advise on how to proceed to remedy.
