Sunny January with Dolly in San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende , Gto, Mexico

Looking for a break from winter in the north? If you don’t know San Miguel, it’s one of the most popular small cities worldwide. It’s charming, beautiful, with great restaurants, galleries, full of artists and writers, both foreign and local Mexican. I live in Colonia Guadalupe, one of the neighborhoods that’s been compared to Soho because of its coffee shops, galleries and a small grocery store that has most everything, plus an organic produce shop. It’s a mixed neighborhood of Mexican and foreign residents. A real community.

Weather in January can be quite chilly early mornings and late evenings. But as soon as the sun comes up temperatures rise into the 70s. My apartment has a wall mounted mini split that heats or cools.

My pup Dolly is a rescue, a terrier mix about 5 1/2 years old. She’s a lover. I never thought at this point in life I’d get another dog, but then the pandemic hit. We were both lonely, and now I can’t imagine life without her.

My apartment is small, in a complex with four other units. Neighbors are US, all friendly. Claudia is our housekeeper; she cleans each apartment once a week. My day is Monday. Oscar and Victor are our gardener and a handyman who can help with most anything. You won’t be alone. You’ll enjoy a great kitchen with dishwasher and disposal, a new fridge, and a washer/dryer shared by the residents. One and a half small baths, too. We’re close to parks, a major gallery complex and plenty of shops. The one deal breaker for some might be the size of the bed. It’s a matrimonial, or double bed. Great for cuddling if you’re a couple. There’s also a sofa bed on the sun porch and a shared roof terrace that’s perfect for watching fireworks! Excellent internet, Netflix too.

Thanks so much! We look forward to getting to know you.

All the best, Janet and Dolly

Responsibilities

You’ll need to take Dolly out in front of our building first thing (7-8:00) for a quick pee and poop. Then breakfast. Later morning (10-12:00) we go to a park or coffee shop or on a grocery run. Dolly loves people and other pups so watching life go by is great fun. Late afternoon it’s a short walk around a couple of blocks, then supper. Last time out for a quick pee and poop around 9:00 p.m.

There are no plants to water. Yay!
